A while back I made a post about how much time kids spend consuming media.
If you missed that post, I’ll save you the suspense. Today’s kids consume 11 hours of media a day. I think we can all agree that’s not healthy.
Doing one hour of fun family activities each week is a fantastic way to strengthen family relationships, make kids happier, and help them do better in school!
Today I’m introducing the first activity… Tag team art projects!
So Here’s the Idea…
Create an art project all of you can do together! For example, do a mural and give each family member a job.
Some people draw outlines. Others color them in. You assign jobs based on each persons skill level.
Do you have a big blank wall in your house? What about a long hallway?
Instead of leaving it a lame boring beige, why not cover it with awesome family artwork? It will be a great conversation piece when friends come over!
If all that’s too much of a pain, just get a big piece of paper and a giant box of crayons!
Decide in advance what you’d like to express. It could be a family portrait, a decorative design, or a picture of somewhere you’d like to visit!
To Liven Things Up, Put on Some Fun Music!
You’ve all got your favorite tunes. Put together a playlist that has a little something for everybody.
You’ll be doing something together. Plus, when you’re done you’ve got a great heirloom that serves as a memory of the evening!
Make sure that whatever you create gets prominently displayed. Don’t just stuff it in the attic!
