The Cruelest of Words

The other day I was at a strolling engagement. If you’re not familiar with strolling magic, it’s where the magician mingles with the crowd and performs small illusions that happen in the spectators hands.
I just finished one of my favorite pieces. Jaws dropped and eyes popped. It’s one of those moments where everyone is too stunned to speak for a couple seconds because they can’t believe what just happened!
Afterward one woman turned to a young child and said “It’s just a trick. There’s no real magic in the world!”
That statement broke my heart.
